Stanislaw Karczewski, the Marshal of the Senate of Poland, led a delegation on an official visit to Budapest on 12-13 September 2016. During his visit, Marshal Karczewski held talks with Speaker of Parliament László Kövér and was received by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and President of the Republic János Áder. He met members of the Hungarian-Polish Friendship Group and met separately with Zsolt Németh, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and Richárd Hörcsik, Chair of the European Affairs Committee.
Deputy Speaker of Parliament János Latorcai participated in the Europe of the Carpathians Conference hosted in Krynica in southern Poland on 6-8 September 2016. Speakers of parliament from the V4 countries spoke at the opening session of the conference under the title “The Visegrád Group: Current Challenges and New Forms of Cooperation”.
Milan Štěch, President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, paid an official visit to Hungary on 20-21 April 2017 at the invitation of Speaker of Parliament László Kövér.
Marek Kuchciński, Marshal of the Polish Sejm, visited Hungary on 24-25 October 2016 and participated in events commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Hungarian revolution and freedom fight of 1956.
The Speaker of Parliament László Kövér held an informal meeting with Andrej Danko, Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, on 12 April 2017 in Esztergom. During their meeting, the two speakers reviewed inter-parliamentary relations and current topics in V4 cooperation.
To mark the anniversary of the Hungarian revolution of 1956, the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic hosted a commemorative event and international conference in its ceremonial hall on 22 September 2016. In addition to Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Zsolt Németh, the Presidents of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Czech Republic also delivered remarks at the event.
The Speaker of Parliament was accompanied on his visit to Poland by Mrs. László Csúcs, the spokesperson for the Polish nationality in Parliament, and by Ministry of Agriculture Deputy State Secretary István Lóránt Szakáli.
Stanisław Karczewski, the President of the Polish Senate, paid a two-day visit to Hungary on June 29-30, 2017 as the head of a delegation. During his visit, the President had a meeting with the Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly László Kövér. The President and the Speaker confirmed that the two countries and their two parliaments enjoy a close cooperation, share a common historical past and uphold their Christian traditions.
The ceremony for the handover of the rotating presidency of the Visegrád Group was held in the Senators’ Chamber of the Castle of Cracow, i.e. the Wawel. Marek Kuchciński, the President of the Polish Sejm - when assessing the parliamentary cooperation during the Polish presidency - mentioned the interparliamentary summits held in the V4 as well as in broader formats, the Visegrád news portal accessible on the website of the Polish Parliament and the strategic cooperation agreement signed by the Hungarian and Polish legislatures in April 2017.
The Speaker of Parliament László Kövér, together with the Marshal of the Sejm of Poland Marek Kuchciński, participated in the unveiling in Budapest of an exact replica of the statue paying tribute to Henryk Slawik and József Antall Sr., erected in Warsaw outside the Hungarian Embassy in November 2016.
