Videoconference of the Chairpersons of the Foreign Affairs Committees of the Parliaments of Visegrád and Baltic countries on March 29, 2021


At the initiative of Marek Kuchciński, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Polish Sejm, a videoconference was organised for the second time on March 29, 2021 for the Chairpersons of the Foreign Affairs Committees of the parliaments of Visegrád and Baltic countries.
The three main topics of the V4+ meeting covered the current situation resulting from the Covid-19 outbreak and the steps taken to address the pandemic; the socio-political situation in Belarus and matters concerning the Three Seas Initiative.
At the videoconference, V4 countries were represented by Marek Kuchciński, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Polish Sejm, Bogdan Klich, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Polish Senate, Jan Lipavský, Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Czech Chamber of Deputies, Pavel Fischer, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Czech Senate and Peter Osuský, Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Slovak National Council. Baltic States were represented by Marko Mihkelson, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Estonian Parliament, Riigikogu, Žygimantas Pavilionis, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Lithuanian Seimas, and Rihards Kols, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Latvian Saeima.
At the videoconference, the Hungarian National Assembly was represented by Zsolt Németh, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, who made a number of verbal contributions providing information about the pandemic in Hungary, the vaccination strategy, as well as the position of Hungary on current foreign policy issues, including, among others, Belarus and the Three Seas Initiative.
At the end of the event, the Chairpersons of the Committees discussed the possibilities of future parliamentary co-operation at V4+B3 level. The next meeting will be organized by the Foreign Affairs Committee of Lithuania.
