Deputy Speaker of Parliament János Latorcai participated in the Europe of the Carpathians Conference hosted in Krynica in southern Poland on 6-8 September 2016. Speakers of parliament from the V4 countries spoke at the opening session of the conference under the title “The Visegrád Group: Current Challenges and New Forms of Cooperation”.

To mark the anniversary of the Hungarian revolution of 1956, the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic hosted a commemorative event and international conference in its ceremonial hall on 22 September 2016. In addition to Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Zsolt Németh, the Presidents of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Czech Republic also delivered remarks at the event.

 

On the margins of the conference, Zsolt Németh conducted meetings with his counterpart Karel Schwarzenberg, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic. Zsolt Németh expressed his appreciation in the matter of the rehabilitation of János Esterházy and for Czech support in connection with the Beneš decrees. He expressed Hungary’s commitment for the V4 parliamentary assembly, and noted he was sorry to learn of the Czech Republic distancing itself from the plan. Schwarzenberg promised to look into the background of the decision by the Czech party.
